On Saturday, June 11, 2022, feast of the great missionary apostle, St. Barnabas, our brother Fr. Jorge Ramirez Quiles Sch. P., was ordained a priest of the Lord, at the service of the Church, in the Piarist parish of Adjuntas, in the diocese of Ponce, Puerto Rico. Our brother bishop, Monsignor Félix Lázaro Sch. P., was the minister who conferred the sacred order.

It was a beautiful and joyful ceremony amidst many Piarists from the wide geography of our USA-PR Province. In the homily, Bishop Felix Lazaro Sch. P., exhorted our brother, Fr. Jorge Ramirez Quiles Sch. P., to put to work the grace received at the service of the People of God through our specific ministry of educating and evangelizing children and youth who need Jesus Christ, the Teacher, and Witness of the Father’s love.

The following day, June 12, the celebration of the first Eucharist took place in his home parish, Holy Family Parish in Bayamon, PR, and Fr. Orlando Rodríguez Sch. P., Parish Priest of the Annunciation, Manhattan, NY, was in charge of the homily, in which he made a beautiful and heartfelt portrait of Fr. Jorge as a person and community companion. 

Jorge Ramirez’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jorge and Wanda, were at both celebrations, along with many people from the “Island of Enchantment,” the name of Puerto Rico, and the parents of the Puerto Rican Piarists and their families. There were also other Piarist friends from New York and Miami.

Jorge’s father is in formation in the “permanent diaconate” program and will indeed be ordained in a year. This is another reason for thanksgiving and immense joy.

The first Eucharist of Fr. Jorge Ramirez Quiles Sch. P., took place on the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, and it is a coincidence that Jorge’s religious name is “of the Most Holy Trinity”. It is also a coincidence that this same day, June 12, was the eleventh anniversary of the canonical erection of the Province of the USA and PR. A beautiful reason for thanksgiving for the blessing of so many vocations that have come to us since then.

We note with joy how the human panorama of this Province has changed, where today there are faces and lives of young religious recently ordained and others who are on the way. We are deeply grateful to the God of Life who continues to count on us so that, in the likeness of his Son, we may facilitate that humanity “may have life in abundance”.

In the coming month of July, Brother Deacon José Guadalupe García Jasso Sch. P., will be ordained priest in Guanajuato, Mexico, on July 17. And Brother José Juan Reséndiz Sch. P., will make his solemn profession on July 14 and be ordained deacon the following day in the same state of Guanajuato.

Our pre-novice, Jair Jácome, will begin his novitiate year at the novitiate house in Celaya, Mexico, on July 4, 2022. So, we can only trust and ask, concluding that, at the end of the day, “grace is everywhere”.

Ordenación Sacerdotal y primera eucaristía de Jorge Ramírez Quiles

El 11 de junio de 2022, sábado, fiesta del gran apóstol misionero, San Bernabé, nuestro hermano P. Jorge Ramírez Quiles Sch. P., fue ordenado sacerdote del Señor, al servicio de la Iglesia, en la parroquia escolapia de Adjuntas, de la diócesis de Ponce, Puerto Rico. Nuestro hermano obispo escolapio, Monseñor Félix Lázaro Sch. P., fue el ministro que le confirió el orden sagrado.

Fue una ceremonia hermosa y cargada de alegría, en medio de muchos escolapios venidos de la amplia geografía de nuestra Provincia de USA-PR. En la homilía, el obispo Félix Lázaro Sch. P., exhortó a nuestro hermano, P. Jorge Ramírez Quiles Sch. P., a poner a trabajar la gracia recibida al servicio del Pueblo de Dios a través de nuestro ministerio específico de educar y evangelizar a la niñez y la juventud, que tanto necesita de Jesucristo, el Maestro y Testigo del amor del Padre.

Al día siguiente, 12 de junio, tuvo lugar la celebración de la primera eucaristía, en su parroquia de origen, Parroquia de la Sagrada Familia de Bayamón, PR. El escolapio, P. Orlando Rodríguez Sch. P., párroco de la Anunciación, Manhattan, NY, estuvo a cargo de la homilía, en la que hizo un bello y sentido semblante del P. Jorge, como persona y compañero de comunidad.

Los padres del P. Jorge Ramírez, el Sr. Jorge y la Sra. Wanda, estuvieron en ambas celebraciones, junto a muchas personas de la “Isla del Encanto”, que así se llama a Puerto Rico, así como los padres de todos los escolapios puertorriqueños y sus familias. También estuvieron otras amistades escolapias llegadas de New York y de Miami.

El papá del P. Jorge está formándose en el programa de “diaconado permanente”, y seguramente, de aquí en un año, será ordenado. Éste es otro motivo de acción de gracias y de gozo inmenso.

La primera eucaristía del P. Jorge Ramírez Quiles Sch. P., tuvo lugar en la solemnidad de la Santísima Trinidad, dándose la coincidencia de que el nombre de religioso de Jorge es precisamente: “de la Santísima Trinidad”. Da también la coincidencia de que ese mismo día, 12 de junio, fue el onceavo aniversario de la erección canónica de la Provincia de USA y PR. Bello motivo de acción de gracias por la bendición de tantas vocaciones que desde entonces han llegado a nosotros.

Constatamos con gozo cómo ha cambiado el panorama humano de esta Provincia, donde hoy aparecen rostros y vidas de jóvenes religiosos recientemente ordenados y otros que van en el camino. Agradecemos profundamente al Dios de la Vida que sigue contando con nosotros, para que, a semejanza de su Hijo, facilitemos que la humanidad “tenga vida en abundancia”.

En el mes de julio entrante, el hermano diácono José Guadalupe García Jasso Sch. P., será ordenado sacerdote en el estado de Guanajuato, México, el 17 de julio. Y el hermano José Juan Reséndiz Sch. P., hará su profesión solemne, el 14 de julio, y será ordenado diácono al día siguiente, en el mismo estado de Guanajuato.

Nuestro pre-novicio, Jair Jácome, iniciará el año de noviciado en la casa noviciado de Celaya, México, el 4 de julio de 2022. Así que, sólo nos toca confiar y pedir, concluyendo que, a fin de cuentas, “todo es gracia”.
