We are a Religious Order founded in the 17th<\/sup> century by St. Joseph Calasanz (1557-1648) and dedicated to evangelize through education the children and preferably poor, therefore we profess a special fourth vow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

St. Joseph Calasanz, declared in 1948 by Pope Pius XII \u201cUniversal patron of all Christian popular schools in the world\u201d, has the glory of opening \u201cthe first public popular free school in Europe\u201d in 1597 (Von Pastor). He proclaimed the right to education of all children and fought for it, being chased by this reason. But he had a resounding success in his purpose as it responded to the challenges and needs of his time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Pauline Congregation of Clerics Regular Poor of the Mother of God of the Pious Schools was founded in 1617 (\u201cPauline\u201d name comes from the Pope Paul V who approved it), which Gregorio XV elevated to Religious Order in 1621 with the current name. Soon it spread throughout Italy and central Europe. It is currently widespread in 4 continents (Europe, Asia, Africa and America). We are more than 1,300 religious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For more than four centuries, Piarists have always been with others at the head of the education and today like yesterday, we care for the formation of children, especially the most underprivileged, and for the dreams and aspirations of youth. We don\u2019t carry this mission out alone, we share it with over a hundred thousand laity and with male and female religious congregations that form the Calasanz Family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Somos una Orden Religiosa fundada en el siglo XVII por S. Jos\u00e9 de Calasanz (1557-1648) y dedicada a evangelizar mediante la educaci\u00f3n a los ni\u00f1os y preferentemente pobres, por ello nos consagramos con un cuarto voto especial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

S. Jos\u00e9 de Calasanz, declarado en 1948 por el Papa P\u00edo XII \u00abPatrono Universal de todas las escuelas populares cristianas del mundo\u00bb, tiene la gloria de haber abierto en 1597 \u00abla primera escuela p\u00fablica popular gratuita en Europa\u00bb (Von Pastor). Proclam\u00f3 el derecho a la educaci\u00f3n de todos los ni\u00f1os y luch\u00f3 por ello, siendo perseguido por este motivo. Pero tuvo un rotundo \u00e9xito en su prop\u00f3sito pues respondi\u00f3 a los retos y necesidades de su \u00e9poca.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En 1617 se fund\u00f3 la Congregaci\u00f3n Paulina de Cl\u00e9rigos Regulares Pobres de la Madre de Dios de las Escuelas P\u00edas (el nombre paulina viene del Papa Paulo V que la aprob\u00f3), que Gregorio XV elev\u00f3 a Orden Religiosa en 1621 con el nombre actual. Pronto se extendi\u00f3 por toda Italia y Europa central. Actualmente est\u00e1 difundida en 4 continentes (Europa, Asia, \u00c1frica y Am\u00e9rica). Somos m\u00e1s de 1.300 religiosos.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Por m\u00e1s de cuatro siglos, los Escolapios hemos estado siempre con otros a la cabeza de la educaci\u00f3n y, hoy como ayer, nos preocupamos por la formaci\u00f3n de los ni\u00f1os, especialmente de los m\u00e1s desamparados, y por los sue\u00f1os y aspiraciones de la juventud. Esta misi\u00f3n no la llevamos adelante solos, la compartimos con m\u00e1s de cien mil laicos y con las congregaciones religiosas femeninas y masculinas que forman la gran Familia Calasancia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
